Penile Implant: The Latest Trend

By Bindiya Carmeline Thomas

men penile implantBangalore, Mar 10
: A growing trend has emerged showing that men insecure over organ size are opting to go in for penile implants.

Nine men in the last three months have gone under the knife to have their penis enlarged in a bid to boost their ego. Statistics have shown that mostly young fathers, aged between 30 and 40, have ended up on the surgeon's table.

Kamini Rao, a noted infertility expert, said, "The last few years I would see just one patient in a whole year. But now I see one every three months. And it's not very surprising that it's now emerging as a trend."

She added, "It's an ego massage for men who are already fathers and they all say that it's because they are ridiculed by their wives or sex partner."

Padmini Prasad of the Institute of Sexual Medicine, attributes the rise in takers to lifestyle disease like diabetes that often causes erectile dysfunction. She said, "Many men just want to have an active sexual life and there's growing awareness, which has caused this increase.

Even men in their 50s have come forward for the procedure."

Prasad, who earlier saw just one patient a year, is seeing a 15 per cent increase in the number of men approaching her in the last few years.

Saheb Gowda Shetty, head of plastic surgery at Fortis Hospital, said, "There has definitely been a surge in the number of men wanting the procedure.

I see about 2 to 3 men ranging between 20 to 30 years-of-age who say that they just want better satisfaction."

He added, "Often it's not about the length, but also the girth of the penis that bothers them."

How it's done

Surgery takes just two hours and involves implanting a pump in the groin or scrotum, which can be manipulated by hand to fill the cylinders from an implanted reservoir in order to achieve an erection.

The replacement cylinders are normally sized to be direct replacements, but larger ones can be implanted.

The advantage of this procedure is that an erection can be created whenever desired, for as long as is desired and as firm as desired. However, this procedure is not reversible.

World’s Smallest Man Has Big Problems

World's Smallest man has a run-in with cops for not using child seat

New South Wales, Mar 10 : Khagendra Thapa Magar has run in with Australian police for not using child seat.

Khagendra Thapa Magar is not your average 19-year-old guy. Instead of playing Xbox, he prefers to play with pebbles.

Instead of worshipping the Arctic Monkeys, he worships Lord Buddha. Instead of eating 5kg, he is 5kg.

Khagendra is the world's smallest man, measuring 67cm  (26 inches) in height.

Khagendra Magar celebrates when he hears that he holds the record of being the world's smallest man.

Magar throws a punch at 'Tiny Iron', Britain's largest man in 2010

Since claiming the Guinness world record, Khagendra has travelled the world.

But jetsetting has its challenges when you're the size of a six-month-old baby, as he found out in a brush with New South Wales police.

The cops pulled over the car in which he was travelling for a random breath test and demanded to know why Khagendra wasn't in a child booster seat.

Only when his travelling companions handed over his passport to prove his age did officers let him go.

Khagendra was born with a rare condition known as primordial dwarfism.

"I am just happy being who I am. My family loves me just the way I am," he said. "I see myself as a unique individual," he added.

Khagendra was in Australia to raise awareness about sex trafficking and to seek donations for his foundation, which supports the disabled and orphaned in Nepal.

Aizawl Mulls Monorail To Ease Traffic Jams

monorailAizawl, Mar 10 : Aizawl aspires to become the first city in the Northeast India to have a monorail. According to official sources, the state government has mulled setting up a monorail in the hill city to ease increasing traffic jams with an investment from the Global Investment Capital.

The sources said the monorail project will be executed under Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis and an agreement to this effect would be signed on March 11.

The GIC, which has bases in Dubai and Singapore, the sources said, has shown interest in investing in Mizoram considering its peaceful environment.

Representatives of GIC who met Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla at his office, praised Mizoram for emerging as a role model for peace in the insurgency-disturbed Northeast India.

The GIC team leader Bunny Khin underlined that peace is prerequisite for development and lauded the role of Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla for ushering in permanent peace in Mizoram by surrendering his chief ministerial throne in 1986. He said Mizoram is known for its peaceful environment which may be used to attract global investors.

Expressing his eagerness to partner with the GIC, Lal Thanhawla said besides monorail, housing project for about 500 families of government employees and construction of four-star and five-star hotels would be given first priority under the joint venture with GIC.

Amanda Seyfried Told to Botox Her Face

Amanda Seyfried in Elle. (Elle)

Amanda Seyfried is barely 25 years old, yet this Gorgeous actress is being bullied by “her people” to have Botox injected into her face so she will stay competitive in the cut-throat film industry.

“I was like, 'Damn you!'” Seyfried is quoted by Elle in the magazine's March issue. “But we’re in Hollywood. I’m on a huge screen. With these new digital cameras, you can see the peach fuzz on my face.”

Her co-star's advise: "I think people look funny when they freeze their faces," says Meryl Street, Seyfried's co-star in “Mamma Mia!,”

Of Meryl, this is what Seyfried has to say: "Meryl, she makes herself very accessible right away, almost too accessible. That’s what I do. And it totally works. My thing about meeting people—men, women, people in general—is to desensitize them, kind of shock them a little bit, to make myself accessible.”

Not getting Botox will not affect her relationship “Mamma Mia!” Co-star Dominic Cooper: “(It is) one of the easiest things in the world, You’re both open. You’re put in a situation where you have to make out with each other. It’s easy for things to get carried away.” It made her
fear to start another relationship.

But what about Channing Tatum and Justin Timberlake, both of whom she co-starred with in other films? “I can’t lie. It didn’t suck making out with Channing and Justin.”

Is This Phone Better Than iPhone 4?

ATRIX-HANDSIf there's one thing that can be said about the Atrix, it's that it's the only phone of its kind.

In fact, it's the only phone you could type this review up on.

At first glance, it's nothing special. The overall design is unimpressive, and the plastic back cover doesn't exactly scream cutting edge. By no means is it as pretty to look at as Apple's iPhone 4, though both devices have similar high-resolution display and have screens made of Gorilla Glass.

But the Atrix packs a punch under the hood. The 4.0 inch screen is incredibly crisp, and the custom Android 2.2 build is unique, integrating social features into the overall system.

It comes loaded with tools like AT&T's Uverse service that are boosted by 4G, and offers web browsing speeds that are among the fastest available. The Atrix is blazing fast, in some cases halving the time it takes to bring up a page compared to the iPhone. The device's browser however, is a bit choppy, especially compared to the smooth scrolling of an Apple device.

The custom interface of the Atrix is most notable in terms of social integration. When you start the phone for the first time, you'll be asked to link a number of accounts to it, including Facebook, Twitter, and Google (all optional). There's an individual screen purely loaded with social features, oddly combining everything into one spot. It's a bit clunky and confusing, but it's not completely integral to the Atrix's function (though it could be a great supplement). The interface certainly isn't as intuitive as the iPhone, though many of the features, like the side-scrolling homescreens, are the same.

In the short experience with the phone, it didn't drop a single call, even in areas with poor reception (amazing compared to the iPhone's sketchy dropped call track record ib AT&T's network). There's still something to be said for good, solid calling features, and the Atrix seems to suffer from no Apple "death grip" type problems.

Overall it's a pretty standard (though fast) Android phone, which gives iPhone 4 a run for its money in terms of hardware. At $200 it's probably the best Android phone out there for the price, and a perfect iPhone alternative if you like Android.

The main draw of the Motorola's convertible phone/computer hybrid however, is it's functionality in terms of both hardware and software. The Atrix's dual-core processor really means it can do two things at once. The problem is it can't do both things well at the same time.

Pulling the phone into the laptop dock pulls up a custom Linux OS on screen. As cool as the thought of turning your phone into a laptop is, that's a problem for many people right away. It comes pre-installed with Firefox and a custom browser for Facebook, but beyond that there isn't much.

The question remains why it doesn't have a Chrome OS, given that it's an Android phone it would make sense for the laptop to be Chrome based. Motorola's custom Linux build is pretty basic.

The laptop does have access to a "Mobile View," which essentially lets you use your phone on the laptop. It's great for a few things (and a front-facing camera on the laptop would make for awesome video-calling over 4G), including using a preinstalled version of Quickoffice, which is great for anyone who needs to type on the go. However, it's not exactly a comprehensive word processor.

Any files you save on the Atrix remain on the phone's internal storage, for access on both the laptop and the phone itself, allowing you to mange your files wherever you are. Storage can be another problem though, with just 16 GB of storage, the Atrix laptop dock could never be your only computer.

In many ways it's the anti-iPad, providing you with features like a physcial keyboard and trackpad. The problem is that beyond that it barely transforms the phone. It's less a transformer and more of a temporary upgrade.

All in all it's a great, superfast phone, and a mediocre-at-best computer.

See our side-by-side comparison of the iPhone 4 and Motorola Atrix 4G below. Which phone do you prefer and why?

New Train Link Connects Agartala With Bangladesh Town

bangladesh railwayDhaka, Mar 10 : The construction work on a 10-kilometre railway track directly linking southeastern Akhaura town in Bangladesh with Agartala, the capital of Indian state of Tripura, is set to begin later this year.

'Both India and Bangladesh are moving fast to establish the train connectivity,' Director General of Railway Towhidul Anwar Chowdhury told The Daily Star.

With the establishment of the new link, Tripura and part of northeast India will be connected to the Chittagong Port in Bangladesh through railway.

Communications ministry officials say the new rail link, to be constructed with Indian grant, will open up huge opportunities for both the countries, especially in trade, tourism and communications.

India will be able to transport goods through the rail link by using the seaport, while Bangladesh will gain financial benefit by charging them for using the railway and port facilities.

India has been pressing for the rail link as it will also reduce distance between Agartala and Kolkata.

However, the rail link is mainly aimed at freight services, The Daily Star said Thursday.

There is also a road link between Akhaura of Brahmanbaria and Agartala. The Dhaka-Agartala bus service, introduced in 2003, operates through this route.

It runs irregularly and hardly yields any benefit, officials said.

The two countries have already finalised alignment of the rail tracks and are now determining construction cost as well as the modus operandi of the train service.

Chowdhury said Bangladesh has endorsed an alignment that connects Gangasagar, a small train station in Akhaura, and Agartala for the new route. The route was finalised in October last year.

'Both the countries will determine the cost and modus operandi of construction of the tracks after the central government endorses the route,' said Iftekharul Islam, additional secretary of the communications ministry.

Gangasagar and Agartala, both about five kilometres from the international border, will be linked through metre gauge line. But the option for a broad gauge line will also be there.

The rail connectivity is taking place as per the agreement between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh during her visit to India in January last year.

Manipur Films Come To Delhi

By Joyeeta Ghosh

New Delhi, Mar 10
: If one were to mention Imagi Ningthem, a Manipuri feature film, not many of us would know that it received the Golden Montgolfiere at the Nantes film festival in 1982 and the silver lotus at the National Film Festival. Although a lot of Manipuri films have received global acclaim, they have failed to carve a niche in the national imagination with the state being always associated with images of insurgency and unrest.

A first-ever Manipuri film festival — Nongpokthong (Eastern Gate) — in Delhi is attempting to change all that. The five-day festival (March 9-13), which is being organised by the Manipur Film Development Corporation, will showcase around 40 feature and non-feature films both old and new. Apart from the Siri Fort Auditorium, which screened the inaugural film Ishanou (was selected for the Cannes Film Festival in 1991), on Wednesday, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Millia Islamia and Delhi University colleges — Lady Shri Ram, Daulat Ram, Dayal Singh and Indraprastha — are the other venues for the festival.

“Coming from a small state like Manipur, it is difficult to get recognition as a filmmaker in India. Strangely, international recognition came easier to me. One hopes that the festival will help the young filmmakers from Manipur to get noticed,” said 75-year-old Abiram Syam Sharma, the director of  Imagi Ningthem  and Ishanou.

From the first feature film Matamgi Manipur in 1972 the film industry in Manipur has come a long way. http://www.hindustantimes.com/Images/HTEditImages/Images/10_03_pg8a.jpg

“In late 1990s a ban on Hindi films was imposed in Manipur. This was an attempt to resist the ‘Hindisation’ of films. Insurgency led to a decline in economic situation of the state, making films on celluloid expensive. In 2002, a digital revolution swept the entire film industry and today around 60 to 70 digital feature films are churned out every year. In fact, ours is the only full-fledged digital film industry in the country today," said Haobam Paban Kumar, maker of Mr India, a documentary on a HIV positive person who wins the title against all odds.

Mr India will also be screened at the festival.
