The General Consultants of the Tripura Forest Environmental Improvement and Poverty Alleviation Project require expert(s) in the area of Bamboo Processing and Marketing and NTFP Processing and Marketing to assist NTFP Center of Excellence established under the Project. The terms of reference for the expert include: identifying low volume, high volume bamboo and non bamboo items for production, provide new ideas for bamboo and non bamboo product designs, finishing, manufacturing, production protocols / flow, packaging, assist multiplication/ domestication of some of the commercially important species, processing and certification

The candidate should have Master's degree in the relevant field with 8 years experience in processing and marketing management in a superior capacity. Must have sufficient consultancy experience in marketing research with special reference to NTFP. It requires extensive local and national travel and familiarity with the local context (North East India). It is a 10 person months assignment with a competitive remuneration subject to negotiation. 1. NTFP Processing and Marketing Specialist (1): Focus on bamboo processing and marketing:
a. Identify low volume, high volume bamboo items for production and availability of technology
b. Inventorise the variety of high value and mass requirements of bamboo items,
c. Assist in setting up of CCFs on bamboo,
d. Workout the required machines, and other infrastructure for setting up of facilities
e. Assist proper procurement of bamboo materials,
f. Assist proper treatment of bamboo,
g. Provide new ideas for bamboo product designs, finishing, manufacturing, production protocols / flow, packaging
h. Support Public-Private Partnership,
i. Assist exhibitions and market linkage on bamboo products
j. Assist market linkage of bamboo products
k. Initiate and assist in obtaining green certificate of NTFP( Good Collection Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices)
l. Assisting smooth marketing of NTFP Products by local SHG/Community
2. NTFP Processing and Marketing Specialist (2): Focus on Non-bamboo NTFP processing and marketing:
a. Identify low volume, high volume NTFP items for production and availability of technology
b. Assist in identifying the availability of NTFPs with potential for primary processing,
c. Assist multiplication/ domestication of some of the commercially important species.
d. Assist identifying required processing facility-machine and other infrastructure
e. Assist processing, manufacturing, production protocols and certification
f. Support Public-Private Partnership,
g. Initiate and assist in obtaining green certificate of NTFP( Good Collection Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices)
h. Assisting smooth marketing of NTFP Products by local SHG/Community
i. Assist exhibitions and market linkage on non-bamboo NTFP products
j. Assist marketing of non-bamboo NTFP products through national and international buyers of NTFPs, proper pricing, analysis on market sizes, etc.
