Mizoram Parties Gear Up For Polls

Aizawl, Jul 8 : Political parties in Mizoram have started gearing up for the next assembly elections. Polls to the Mizoram assembly are due by the later part of this year.

One of the opposition parties in the state Mizoram Peoples Concention (MPC) has come up with its 10 points development programme, the same which was launched yesterday.

MPC president, Lalhmangaiha Sailo released the 10 points development programme of the party here in the leaders meet at Party Conference Hall.

While lashing out at the various past Mizoram governments, the MPC president alleged that there had been no proper planning during the last 27 years.

The 10 points development programme of the party announced by the party president consists of the creation of sustainable occupation for the farmers; generation of sufficient power; improvement in education; exploration of underground natural resources; empowerment of youths; empowerment of women; efficiency in Public Administration; emphasis on preservation of the Mizo Identity and Eradication of Corruption. Meanwhile, Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president and Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla said, the Congress party continues to grow with the earnest effort of the party units, groups and blocks.

He said this while addressing a 'political session' held in Congress Bhavan yesterday. The political session was held in connection with induction of new members who newly joined the party.
