A die-hard MLB fan, Keith Carmickle is caught by his brother and a friend after he almost fell headfirst to a pool deck about 20 feet below while trying to catch home run ball hit by Milwaukee's Prince Fielder during Major League Baseball's Home Run Derby at the All-Star Game in Phoenix, Arizona. Easily a case of back from the brink for this fan'atic'

A Red Star soccer fan with a torch runs across the field during a soccer match between Red Star and Partizan in Belgrade October 14, 2000. Yugoslav soccer fans rioted in Belgrade's biggest sports stadium on Saturday, forcing abandonment of a match between Red Star and Partizan, the capital's two arch-rivals. Witnesses said Partizan fans sparked trouble by tossing fireworks and stadium seats at rival fans and on to the pitch, and as the players were escorted to safety hundreds of Red Star supporters broke out of their end of the ground and raced across the pitch to confront the Partizan fans

Familiar sight

Fan'atic' - 7: Familiar sight

The easiest way to know if cricket fans are happy is to simply take a look at the ground. If it looks in good shape, then the local fans must be really happy. If not, you know there is serious trouble. Like this one, which was sparked off after a few ugly fans hurled bottles onto the field at Arnos Vale in St.Vincent during the first ODI between West Indies and Australia in 2008

Too dangerous yet who cares

Fan'atic' - 8: Too dangerous yet who cares

We have heard of number of instances of under-construction buildings caving in when exaggerated weight is put on them. Yet, fans don't seem to learn. When it comes to cricket, everything else including safety takes backseat. In this picture, fans are caught crowding an under-construction building near the Nehru Stadium in Guwahati during the ODI match between India and Australia in 2009

Hard to pacify

Fan'atic' - 11: Hard to pacify

We have seen this happen in the subcontinent a number of times. Crowd getting angry about proceedings and organisers trying hard to pacify them. With this menace spreading like a virus from one venue to another, cricket boards decided to ban water bottles in every cricketing venue. Thanks to the ban, incidents like these are now a thing of the past

Does it feel like member's stand?

Fan'atic' - 12: Does it feel like member's stand?

When an international match returns to a venue after two years, emotions can run high and craze for the match can be unparalleled. Like it was when New Zealand and India faced off at the Nehru Stadium in Guwahati in the 2010 bilateral series, which India won 5-0

Football fans are no different

Fan'atic' - 13: Football fans are no different

Countries like Italy, Croatia, Russia and the whole of South America are known for soccer riots, which keeps the riot police on their feet always. This was easily one of the worst incidents of crowd trouble in football when Croatian football fans clashed with police after Croatia was held to a 1-1 draw against Malta in a World Cup 2006 Group Eight qualifier at Ta' Qali National Stadium, outside Valletta, September 7, 2005. Croatia's hopes of winning European Group Eight and qualifying directly for the World Cup finals were jeopardised on Wednesday when they were held to an unexpected 1-1 draw by plucky Malta. The match was overshadowed by crowd trouble as a group of Croatia fans vented their frustration at their team's disappointing outing by ripping up seats and hurling them towards home fans and police officers.
