Rio Says No Bad Condition Of State Highways Due To Limited Funds

Neiphiu RioKohima, Aug 2 : Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today admitted the bad condition of the State Highways and informed that due to limited revenue, there was no fund to maintain the state roads.

On the sideline of a programme on sanitation today he said the state government received some funds from the Centre for construction of new roads under various schemes, but due to poor revenue collections in the state there was no fund to maintain the State Highways.

He pointed out the maintenance of the some of the National Highways, including NH 29, the lifeline of Nagaland and Manipur, is being looked after by the Border Road Organisation(BRO), which is a one of the biggest organizations.

But for not taking the plans of repairing of the Highways in time and giving false excuses of non-cooperation of the public, the Highways under BRO are in pathetic conditions. On the roads under the state government, Mr Rio sought cooperation from the public for the maintenance of the roads.
