Mizoram Lone Rail Link Project With Rest Of India

: Details for a railway line project between Bairabi and Sairang near Aizawl, Mizoram's lone rail link with the rest of the country, has been submitted to the Railways, an official statement said here today.

Estimated to cost Rs 2384.34 lakh, survey for the construction of the rail link was completed while forest clearance was being awaited.

The 51-km long railway line, the first inside Mizoram territory, was scheduled to be completed by 2014.

A meeting of the state level task force suggested that the issue of forest clearance be pursued expeditiously by a joint verification team comprising the railways, deputy commissioners of Aizawl and Kolasib and top officials from the state land revenue and settlement and environment and forest departments.
