New Delhi, Apr 25 : An Electronics Engineer and a Zoology graduate from Manipur, who were allegedly involved in more than 200 cases of vehicle theft, were arrested and 18 high-end cars were recovered from them, police said today. The arrests came after police acted on information that a gang of Manipuri residents along with some local criminals were stealing the cars and sending them to North East through Railway Parcel Service.
The arrested have been identified as N Reagan (28) and W Kanan Kumar (37), both hailing from East Imphal, Additional Deputy Commissioner of POlice (South) Vijay Singh said.
Enquiries were made from Railway Parcel Service and it revealed that a large number of i10 and Santro cars have been sent to North East particularly Deemapur frequently, Singh said.
