Blender’s Pride Glamhunt, billed as the biggest beauty pageant of the Northeast, is scouting for the next Monikangana Dutta who can set the international ramp on fire.

Organized in association with The Telegraph, the contest promises to be the perfect platform to launch a career in the glamorous world of fashion and filmdom.

Two preliminary sessions will be held in Shillong from February 6 to 8 at Shillong Club and in Guwahati from February 10 to 12 at India Club.

The grand finale will be held on February 19 at the same venue in Guwahati.

“The Northeast girls are beautiful and well as intelligent. They are capable of walking shoulder to shoulder with other girls of the country. The only thing they need is the right platform to shine and launch their careers,” an organizer of the event said.

“The objective of the event is to search for and identify the right talent and create a platform where fresh faces can discover their potential in modeling with proper guidance and grooming under trained professionals,” the organizer added.

Girls between 18 and 28 years are eligible for the contest.

Fifty selected candidates will sashay at Shillong Club and India Club, of whom the top 20 will be selected for the grand finale in Guwahati.

“The finale will also include an exclusive fashion extravaganza with top designers and a reputed singer from Mumbai,” the organizer said.

The final will be judged by a celebrity panel, including supermodel Indrani Dasgupta and Assamese actress Nishita Goswami. While the top three winners will walk away with cash and gift hampers, four subtitle winners will get exclusive gifts.

If the girls need role models, they don’t need to look very far.

Dipannita Sharma and Monikangana Dutta are two of Assam’s top models who have made it to the top of the country’s fashion and film world, after going through the grind of beauty pageants. While Dipannita is a regular in the country’s modeling scene with a few Bollywood films under her belt, Monikangana shot to fame in Paris with her dusky, sultry looks. She is now being cast opposite Hrithik Roshan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s new film Guzaarish.

“Blenders Pride and the world of high class fashion and glitterati go hand in hand. Hence, for the first time in the Northeast India, Blenders Pride is unveiling Glamhunt, a platform where the young talent of the region can discover themselves in the world of fashion and glamour,” said a spokesman for Pernod Ricard.

Other sponsors of the event include Vodafone, Levi’s, Pantaloons, DY 365 and BIG 92.7 FM.

Entry forms are available at all Vodafone stores, Levi’s and Pantaloons stores in Shillong and Guwahati. “Interested participants can contact 098640-45477 or mail northeastpride@gmail.com,” he added.
