Mizoram CM's Attitude Positive: Manik Sarkar


Agartala, Jan 13 : Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said his Mizoram counterpart Lalthanhawla reaffirmed that the repatriation of Bru (Reang) refugees lodging in six different camps of North Tripura, who fled from Western Mizoram since 1997, will be taken care of.

Talking to mediapersons here today Mr Sarkar said he had a talk with Mr Lalthanhawla on the sidelines of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's dinner party for his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina on Monday in New Delhi. He discussed about Bru repatriation and the Mizoram Chief Minister's attitude was very positive.

He said Mr Lalthanhawla had accepted the memorandum of Mizoram Bru Displaced People's Forum (MBDPF) and accepted their proposal to ensure visit in the location in Mizoram where the Brus would be settled along with other tribal minorities like the Chakmas, Pawais and the Lakhers.
