With 50 Stolen Bikes, Manipuri Youths Land in Net

Bangalore, Jun 24
: They once broke the handle lock of a motorcycle for fun. The successful experiment later influenced three Manipuri youths to go a bike-stealing spree.

Viveknagar police caught the trio, including a student, and seized 50 motorcycles. Their modus operandi involved using fake rubber stamps and seals of regional transport authorities to create fake registration of vehicles.

The arrested are S K Gowning (23), Mark Irnin (22) and Austin (24). Gowning is pursuing his graduation from Karnataka State Open University while the other two have completed their courses and are in search for jobs.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

As part of their job search, the three planned a trip to Goa where they tried to break the handle lock of a motorcycle for fun. There they realized that stealing bikes would meet their financial needs. On returning, they started stealing bikes near their house in Ejipura.

Over time, they also got into making fake documents. In one-and-a-half years, the three managed to steal 50 vehicles from Vivek Nagar, Adugodi, BTM Layout, Koramangala, and Panaji.

"We raided their house and found a laptop along with some documents. They even forged the signature of regional transport officers (RTOs) along with their office seals," said S S Belegali, inspector, Vivek Nagar.

A special police team has been sent to Manipur to find whether the youths had sent any stolen vehicles there.

MODUS OPERANDI

They would go out at night and locate bikes parked outside gates. Them they would break the handle locks and take them away. Later the number plates would be changed and fake documents made for the new number. They sold the stolen bikes to Manipuris staying in Bangalore.

Probe into Guwahati Violence

By Sushanta Talukdar

Guwahati, Jun 24 : Armed protesters who damaged property, and inciters will face legal action.

The Assam Government on Thursday ordered an additional Chief Secretary-level probe into Wednesday's incidents in the city, where anti-eviction protesters went on the rampage and the police opened fire, resulting in the death of three persons.

The government directed the administration to gather video footage of the incidents and initiate legal action against protesters who came armed with lathis and stones and indulged in violence, causing damage to public and private property, and also against those who incited them.

Henceforth, the government would check the antecedents of any organisation seeking permission to hold protest programmes in the city, Education and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Environment and Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain told journalists here.

No negotiations would be held with the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), led by Right to Information activist Akhil Gogoi, under whose banner Wednesday's protest was staged seeking a complete halt to eviction on the city hills. The government would hammer out a solution by holding direct talks with the settlers.

“The government has decided not to talk to professional agitators i.e. anyone who has made launching agitations a profession,” Dr. Sarma said.

These decisions were taken at a review meeting convened by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

Dr. Sarma admitted that there was intelligence failure on the part of the police in anticipating violence. He alleged that the KMSS betrayed trust by indulging in violence though it had assured the district administration that the protest would be peaceful.

Apart from three Assam State Transport Corporation buses which were torched, about 170 private vehicles were damaged by the protesters. Replying to a question, Dr Sarma said a review on police capability to handle riot situations was needed.

The government would raise a 1000-strong battalion under the Forest Department for protecting unoccupied land on the city hills against encroachment. Of the nearly two lakh households in the city, about 95,000 were on the city hills. Till six years ago, there were only 30,000 households on the city hills, he said.

Goalkeeper Scores Historic Goal From Beyond Midfield

Quillan Roberts Goal Video: Canada Goalkeeper Scores Historic Goal From Beyond Midfield

Quillan Roberts Goal

Canada stunned England in Wednesday's FIFA Under 17 World Cup match when goalkeeper Quillan Roberts scored an improbable equalizer in the final minutes from beyond midfield.

England led 2-1 with three minutes left in the match when Roberts kept pushing the ball up near midfield with nobody around him. The goalie took a shot that bounced over the head of England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and into the net. The match resulted in a 2-2 draw to give Canada its first ever point at the Championships.

Roberts' goal also ended Canada's 13-game losing streak in the world championships that started in 1987.

"This game will teach the boys something about playing to the final whistle and never thinking the game is over," England coach John Peacock said.

Japanese Pop Idol Has A Secret: She's Not Human

Aimi Eguchi, Of Japan's AKB48 Pop Idols, Has A Secret: She's Not Human

Aimi Eguchi Akb 48 Japanese Pop Star Virtual Compo

She was the latest addition to a Japanese girl group with millions of superfans, who vote each year on which of the group's 61 members is the most popular, with the winner announced in an internationally televised awards ceremony.

So when Aimi Eguchi appeared in a candy commercial soon after joining AKB48, fans were understandably suspicious. Ordinarily, only the most popular girls get to do commercials, and Eguchi was still a "research student"--bottom of the ladder. That's when fans started to suggest something extraordinary: What if Eguchi didn't exist at all?

Well, it turns out the skeptics were right. Eguchi wasn't conceived in the womb, but rather, inside a computer. Ezaki Glico, the candy company that first aired the commercial, revealed that Eguchi is a digital composite combining the physical characteristics of six other members' faces.

According to the Singularity Hub, Eguchi's unveiling shocked those fans who had been defending her humanity. Eguchi, in addition to the ad appearance, also had a profile on the band page, detailing her age, hometown, and hobbies. She had also appeared in a photoshoot in a weekly magazine.

Japan already has at least one virtual pop star: Hatsune Miku, a hologram, performs across the country to screaming fans in sold-out arenas.

Watch a video showing how they made Aimi (below):

Celebrity Handbra Heroes

Who needs a bra when you have hands?

Playboy isn't the only magazine with topless women on the cover.

In fact, just about every major consumer magazine -- men's and women's alike -- has featured a topless star on its cover.

How?

The handbra, of course.

Carefully placed hands and arms can turn a rated-R photo shoot into PG-13 perfection.

Check out some current handbra heroes, and some of the classic pose's past masters.

Jen Aniston in GQ

Aniston used all of her limbs and a well-placed striped tie to make this GQ cover newsstand-friendly.

Keyshia Cole on Vibe

Keyshia looks kind of mad.

Naomi Campbell on Elle

Handbras are an occupational necessity if you are a fashion model.

Ashley Judd on Marie Claire

Lady Gaga on Q

Gaga has never been the modest type.

Jessica Alba on GQ

Alba is a handbra pro, employing them in just about every shoot she does.

Megan Fox on DT

Fox has been trying to tone down her image recently, so handbras may be a thing of the past for her.

Miranda Kerr in GQ

Okay, does GQ ever run a cover that doesn't feature a handbra?

Rihanna on GQ

See what we mean? Sheesh!

Jessica Biel on Gear

Biel's handbra is barely there. The actress later said she regretted doing this cover.

Jaime Pressly on Maxim

Maxim may have invented the modern handbra.

Janet Jackson on Rolling Stone

And in Janet Jackson's famous variation on the handbra, the hands are somebody else's.

Still counts.

Blonde Bombshells' Pool Party

Hugh Hefner’s ‘Runaway Bride’ Crystal Harris ran away to Wet Republic with Heidi Montag.

Despite the negative feedback on jetting to Las Vegas, Harris seemed at peace with her decision to call off the wedding and head to Sin City to join the former "Hills" star Heidi Montag.

The cover girl flipped through the magazine to show Montag as she talked about how much she loved the photos used in the spread.

When Montag was asked her thoughts on Harris' current situation, she replied with "You just have to follow your heart."

When asked about why she called off the wedding to Hefner, Harris said:"I wanted to be true to myself and be true to what was best from everybody."

The girls stuck to themselves for most of the day.

When Harris' new debut single 'Club Queen', released Wednesday, played at Wet Republic, she immediately jumped off the couch, grabbed Montag and both started dancing by the pool.

Harris posed for photos on the carpet with her head held high and a smile on her face.

Montag arrived wearing a short silk romper that covered her sexy peach bikini.

The recommendation was sent to the state governor for his consent.
